Google is excited to announce Google Summer of Code(TM) 2008! Google Summer of Code is a program designed to encourage student participation in open source development and offers these developers stipends to write code for various open source projects. Google will be working with several open source, free software and technology-related groups to identify and fund several projects over a three month period.

Historically, the program has brought together over 1,500 students around the globe with over 130 open source projects, to create millions of lines of code. We are contacting you to invite your students and encourage them to apply and participate!

Pamela Fox, a Google API Support Engineer, will be presenting uses for the Google Web Toolkit, Google Spreadsheets Data API, and Google Maps API. Come join us to find out what these tools are capable of and talk to a Google Engineer!
We will be hosting it in Boelter Hall 4760 on Friday April 4th from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. We will be having Diddy Reese Cookies and drinks!

Event Details:

ACM's final General Body Meeting of the year is here. We've got lots of stuff on the table this quarter.

We will have a special guest speaker, Prof. Terzopoulos from UCLA CS Department, to kick off our event at 6:00pm.

Also on the agenda are improvements to many of our projects including the GameConsole arcade system, more information about the ICPC Competitions, and ongoing and potential new projects and much more.

And of course, no ACM event is complete without food and prizes, so make sure you stop by. :)

Chatter Inc. is coming to UCLA during the week of April 14th to conduct paid research for the video game industry. ACM members will be paid $100 for a 2 hour discussion about the games they like to play. They are looking for students that spend quite a few hours playing video games since they will be discussing several different titles.
