General Information

Why
- Add functionality to an open sourced chat client (Jabber)
- Primary feature is an interactive whiteboard
- Allows the conveyance of ideas in the forms of ad hoc drawings or pictures that could not otherwise be expressed via text alone.
What
- Most of the tools we are using are hosted by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) at UCLA
- We using the open source jabber client code know as JBother
- The source code is written in java so we are using Eclipse as our IDE
- To organize our project we are using:
- Wiki site (hosted by ACM)
- dotProject (hosted by ACM) tasks, forums, files, gantt charts
- To modify the existing code we are using:
- CVS (hosted by ACM)
- Eclipse on SEASnet (provided by ACM)
Where
- We are keeping our official timeline on dotProject, and using the Wiki to post day to day progress
When
- All meetings have taken place at UCLA
- All coding can be done from UCLA labs, or remotely from home
How
- Our architectual design is kept on the Wiki here and here
How Much
- Source code is open source
- Eclipse is free to download and use
- ACM is hosting CVS, dotProject and Wiki
- Only direct cost to the group is our time
